Mayor Djamil Sané was busy at the reclaimed plots this Friday. Rainwater flooded his estate, causing extensive damage. Residents of units 8, 24, and 25 are in disarray. Houses, like that of the imam in unit 24, were swept away by the floodwaters.
"As I speak, I am at Unit 8, which is a low-lying area of the reclaimed plots, like Unit 24, Unit 25, and Unit 22. Part of the population is under water. This is an unusual situation," the mayor said on RFM.
To relieve the population, the city hall led by Djamil Sané has deployed motor pumps and is also relying on the logistics of ONAS, which is also battling the floods. "We are doing our best to evacuate this water, which is taking up almost a lot of space. The situation is currently improving," assures the mayor.
Despite the municipality's efforts to drain water from the estate, the material damage is quite significant, particularly to units 24 and 25 of the remediated plots.
