Furthermore, he thanked the State of Senegal for its diligence and availability in this enterprise of promoting Mouride heritage.
A victory for the Mouride community
The inclusion of the Magal of Touba on the Representative List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage is a significant victory for the entire Mouride community and for Senegal. It promotes the spiritual, cultural, and social legacy of this major religious event, while ensuring its protection for future generations.
Towards global recognition
This approach must be continued in order to promote the richness of the Mouride faith, its history, and its identity on a global scale. This official recognition constitutes a step forward in the preservation of Senegalese heritage and a symbol of the country's commitment to its culture.
The inclusion of Magal in the national heritage thus opens the way to a possible inclusion on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage of humanity, the ultimate objective of this approach initiated by Turaas.
