Pour un Magal plus sûr : Yango allie technologie, prévention et bénédiction du Khalife.
Every year, during the Magal of Touba, millions of worshippers take to the roads to reach the holy city. A moment of religious fervor, but also a high-risk period on Senegalese roads, marked by a significant increase in accidents.
Faced with this reality, Yango Senegal, part of the global technology group Yango Group, with its platform for connecting drivers, partners, and passengers, intends to fully play its role as a major player in urban mobility. Through its technological innovations and concrete commitments, the company aims to actively contribute to incident prevention and the promotion of a safety culture among drivers and users.
Their actions are deployed on several levels. On the technological front, their applications integrate tools such as route sharing for users, an SOS alert button, and dual trip ratings for partner drivers and users. These systems enhance the safety of urban mobility.
The platform also relies on targeted communication campaigns aimed at the general public to remind people of safety instructions and promote responsible behavior on the roads. During the Magal of Touba, prevention campaigns were implemented: radio spots, awareness messages to encourage courtesy at the wheel and emphasize the importance of vigilance, as well as field actions, such as the distribution of water in partnership with Séo along the roads to the Holy City.
This year, a delegation from Yango also had the immense honor of being received by the General Khalifa of the Mourides, a testament to mutual respect and the common desire to contribute to a safe and harmonious Magal.
"The Magal is a sacred moment for millions of Senegalese people. We have a responsibility to do our best to ensure that this pilgrimage takes place in the safest possible conditions. It's a matter of respect, solidarity, and common sense," said Aïcha Niang, Yango Country Manager in Senegal.
This special Magal initiative is part of a broader vision: to foster a true culture of road safety. To this end, Yango intends to continue investing in predictive technology, expand its institutional and community partnerships, and strengthen its field initiatives throughout the year. Beyond tools, a collective approach to safety is essential to foster sustainable solutions.
