PROJET D’HABITATS ET D’ELEVAGE A MLOMP : LA MUNICIPALITE ET LES PARTENAIRES TROUVENT UN TERRAIN D’ENTENTE
The Mlomp housing and livestock project in Bignona department has reached a decisive milestone after weeks of tension. Accused by some residents of having begun the work without prior consultation or deliberation by the municipal council, Mayor Ansoumana Papis Diémé finally obtained the community's support and the approval of the local assembly.
With the controversy now behind them, the municipality and its partners began negotiations this week, resulting in a "win-win" agreement. A convention was signed, which, according to the mayor, "provides security for both the partner and the population."
Mr. Diémé says the project aims to make Mlomp "an economic and development hub," by focusing on food self-sufficiency and the creation of income-generating activities, particularly for young people and women.
The mayor said he expects partners to honor their commitments through concrete results visible to the population. He therefore calls for "accelerating the pace" so that the benefits of this program are quickly felt in the municipality.
