Réforme Hydraulique Rurale : Thiamène-Cayor dit « non » à la SDER et exige le maintien de sa gestion locale
Residents of the commune of Thiamène-Cayor, in the department of Louga, are categorically opposed to the transfer of management of their borehole to Sénégalaise des Eaux Rurales (SDER).
The population organized a protest march to demand the maintenance of the local steering committee, currently responsible for water management.
The "No to SDER" collective denounces any attempt by the state to entrust the local drilling to this company. According to the members of the collective, the SDER "has already shown its limitations," particularly with an increase in the cost of water deemed excessive.
The collective maintains that the Thiamène-Cayor drilling operation has always been managed transparently. Its members also claim that no public consultation was held to gather the population's opinions on the transfer of the infrastructure to SDER.
At the end of their peaceful march, the people read out their memorandum. In it, they explicitly ask municipal and administrative authorities to support them in this standoff with the SDER.

C'est un forage de l'état et il a le droit de confier la gestion à des professionnels.
Ce sont des groupuscules dans les villages qui mobilisent les populations en donnant de fausses informations pour continuer à détourner l'argent du forage.
Et quand le forage tombe en panne, ils retournent demander de l'aide à l'état.
Pendant ce temps, bcp de populations n'ont pas encore accès à l'eau potable.
L'état doit rester fort.
