Rencontre avec Diomaye Faye : Les mots forts de Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour sur le "jub, jubal, jubanti" et les inondations
This Saturday, August 30, 2025, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, went to Tivaouane for a courtesy visit to the General Caliph of Tidianes, Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour, a few days before the Mawlid Al-Naby (Gamou), scheduled for September 4, 2025. This meeting, marked by mutual respect, takes place as part of the preparation for this major religious event celebrated in Tivaouane since 1902, initiated by El Hadji Malick Sy and perpetuated by his successors after his death in 1922. The Caliph expressed his joy at this visit: "It goes straight to my heart. I pray that you and your team succeed at the head of the country."
In his speech, he recalled the importance of the Tidiane triptych – “jub, jubanti, jubal” – advocated by the Prophet (PBUH), emphasizing that “jub, righteousness, is the foundation of all things.” He invited the Senegalese to adopt this philosophy to promote justice and peace. “If there is justice, there will be peace. A blessing is never lost with God,” he declared. Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour also addressed current controversies, calling for the prioritization of “respect and truth, because that is what the Good Lord wants.” Regarding the floods, he described them as a “natural phenomenon”: “No one is safe, only God can put an end to them. Remain determined to protect citizens while praying.”
Gamou, the commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, attracts millions of worshippers to Tivaouane and other cities across Senegal every year. This visit by President Faye underscores the importance of national unity and dialogue between political and religious authorities for a successful celebration.
