Revenus pétroliers : Babacar Ba dénonce un manque de transparence
The president of the Forum of the Justiciable, Babacar Ba, questioned the Prime Minister about the management of Senegal's oil and gas revenues, in a post on the social network X.
While he welcomes the renegotiation of contracts in strategic sectors, he nevertheless insists on the need for transparent management.
“Mr. Prime Minister, the renegotiation of existing contracts must absolutely be accompanied by transparent management,” he writes. The legal expert also raises concerns about the conclusions of the 2024 report from the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
"The lack of traceability of oil revenues accruing to the State of Senegal, revealed by the EITI report in 2024, is a real catastrophe," he laments.
Furthermore, Babacar Ba highlights the lack of transparency regarding the management of the Intergenerational Fund. "To this day, citizens also have no visibility on the management of the 10% of revenues from oil and gas exploitation, which are supposed to be paid into the Intergenerational Fund," he laments.
