Ribot Escale : Privé de repas, un talibé meurt après avoir été corrigé par son maître coranique
The commune of Ribot Escale, in the department of Koungheul, is plunged into sadness and consternation, following the tragic death of the young Koranic student named Abdou Khadr Seck, aged around 8, in particularly atrocious circumstances.
Originally from Touba Saloum in Nioro, he died after being violently beaten by his Koranic teacher, Mr. Seck, aged 40. The child had been deprived of meals yesterday, Monday, as punishment, according to the testimonies collected.
According to Seneweb sources, after the death of the talibé, the Koranic master tried to cover up his crime by faking a natural death.
It was yesterday Monday, around 9 p.m., that the commander of the Ribot Escale local brigade was alerted to the tragedy. Warrant Officer Insa Ndao and his men then went to the village of Médina Mounouwara where they prevented the transport of the remains.
During a thorough investigation, the police discovered signs of physical abuse on the body of the deceased talibé. Faced with these alarming findings, they arrested the suspect. The lifeless body was transferred to the hospital morgue for an autopsy that will establish the exact cause of death.
When questioned by the police, the suspect admitted to "correcting" his student over the phone. He justified his actions by claiming that the child had not mastered his lesson that day and sometimes tried to run away from the Koranic school.
Mr. Seck is being prosecuted for assault and battery resulting in death without intent to cause death. On the instructions of the prosecutor, he was taken into custody at the premises of this unit of the Kaffrine gendarmerie company.
