Richard-Toll : Accusé d'être un voleur, il tente de se suicider
The Richard-Toll urban police station was alerted on Friday, February 6, 2026, to an attempted suicide by hanging in the Thiabakh district, not far from the plastic factory.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the scene, C. Diop, 48, unemployed and residing in Khouma Centre, was surrounded by a crowd. Conscious, he showed no apparent signs of injury, according to Seneweb sources.
A rope found tied to a tree attested to his attempted hanging. He was saved at the last minute by O. Gadiaga, a witness present at the scene.
A desperate gesture in the face of accusations
When questioned about his actions, CD explained that he was the victim of numerous unfounded accusations from his relatives and the public. He was reportedly accused of theft, desecration of graves, and the consumption of alcohol and marijuana.
The firefighters transported the victim to the Richard-Toll Public Health Establishment. The medical examination revealed "a clear consciousness with stable hemodynamic status, confusional syndrome with accounts of persecution and visual hallucinations, resting tremor of the hands, history of alcohol and tobacco use."
Legal intervention in the face of family refusal
Informed of the situation, Mr. Diop, the victim's brother, was asked to go to the hospital to ensure his brother's care. Faced with his blatant refusal and the obvious antipathy he displays towards his brother, he was forced to go to the hospital under threat of prosecution for failure to assist a person in danger.
CD remains hospitalized for appropriate medical follow-up. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
