Senegalese rice: The state and traders seal an agreement to promote local consumption

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the marketing of Senegalese rice with stakeholders in the rice sector and trade organizations. This aims to stimulate consumption of locally grown rice while providing sustainable support to domestic producers.

"Furthermore, a mechanism for indexing imports to purchases of Senegalese rice has been established, with the aim of encouraging the supply of locally produced rice to the market. A vast communication and promotion campaign, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will be organized to promote local production and raise consumer awareness of the advantages of Senegalese rice in order to increase its consumption," the department's statement indicates.

"In addition, all DIPA issuances are temporarily suspended, pending the purchase of local production and a better assessment of available stocks. Finally, to ensure rigorous monitoring and optimal evaluation of the implementation of the decisions, an inter-ministerial framework bringing together the ministries in charge of Trade and Agriculture has been put in place," it is emphasized.

Thus, according to the terms of the agreement, the ex-works price of white rice is set at 350 CFA francs per kilogram. This price, considered fair, aims to guarantee just compensation for producers and to encourage greater competitiveness of Senegalese rice compared to imported products.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade welcomed the conclusion of this agreement, calling on all economic actors to play their full role in ensuring its success and strengthening Senegal's food sovereignty.

Le riz importé avec le coût du transport, la Douane ,la manutention et taxes portuaires plus le coût de la distribution au Sénégal coûte 350f ; et revient nous vendre le riz local au même prix alors ici il n'y a que les coûts de production et de distribution locale

Nos producteurs gagneraient à éliminer du curcuit certaines variétés au goût fade.

C'est le meilleur riz ! Auparavant quand une personne est diabétique on pense que c'est parcequ' elle riche ! " C'était la maladie des riches" ! Maintenant va voir dans les hôpitaux qui sont les diabétiques ! Ama Lou ma bougoula wakh !

Le prix n'encourage pas. Il est produit localement donc moins de frais, pas de douane, de fret et à l'arrivée très cher. Pourquoi on est méchant entre nous ? Pour les oignons et autres produits horticoles, même chose. Ils demandent soutien, on bloque les importations et après, ils sortent les sabres contre les populations sans défense. C'est ça la souveraineté ?
