Rufisque : Le mirage de la multiplication de billets vire au cauchemar pour deux commerçantes
Two women claim to have lost nearly two million CFA francs after undergoing mystical practices supposedly designed to multiply money. They filed a joint complaint with the Rufisque Central Police Station. The alleged charlatans, who were eventually arrested, were brought before the public prosecutor at the Rufisque High Court on Tuesday.
According to the investigation, on January 2, 2026, the complainants, Ndoumbé Diakhaté, also known as Mamy Diakhaté, and Khady Guéye, reported their ordeal to the investigating officers. They accuse Baye Talla Diop, Moustapha Cissé, also known as Pa Ciss, and Abdoulaye Diallo of having extorted large sums of money from them through mystical practices presented as capable of multiplying banknotes.
According to Ndoumbé Diakhaté's statements, it all started with a chance meeting with Khady Guéye on a bus about three months ago. The two women, both businesswomen, reportedly developed a relationship through commercial activities before being directed to marabouts (religious leaders) in order, according to them, to improve their finances.
The meetings were allegedly held at the home of the marabout Baye Talla Diop, where they were put in contact with Moustapha Cissé, then with Abdoulaye Diallo, presented as a specialist in incense and rituals intended for djinns.
According to the plaintiffs, several rituals were organized, involving mystical baths, incense inhalations and incantations, in exchange for sums ranging from 250,000 to 500,000 CFA francs, presented as alms to the djinns.
Ndoumbé Diakhaté claims to have handed over, either directly or via electronic transfers, additional sums repeatedly requested, notably for the purchase of a suitcase supposedly containing a large amount of money. She estimates her personal losses at one million CFA francs and has provided investigators with proof of the transfers.
When questioned, Khady Guéye partially confirmed the facts. In her version, she indicated that the steps were taken on the recommendation of the marabout Baye Talla Diop and that the sums were paid at the request of Moustapha Cissé and Abdoulaye Diallo.
When questioned, Abdoulaye Diallo, a 59-year-old farmer residing in Rufisque, partially admitted to the allegations but denied receiving certain amounts of money mentioned by the complainants. He specifically denied making transfers via mobile payment services, despite the submission of screenshots as evidence in the case file.
At the end of the investigation, the accused were brought before the public prosecutor for criminal association, quackery, extortion and complicity.
