But in Bignona, the Lions' victory was sadly marred by the death of a young man named Alpha Ba, whose older sister is a football referee. He collapsed when the referee awarded the penalty to the Moroccan team. Rushed to the health center, this Guinean, a Senegal supporter, died, leaving a deep sense of loss in the neighborhood.
In Ziguinchor, accidents were reported during the celebrations of the Lions' victory. At least six people were evacuated to the Ziguinchor regional hospital, one of whom was in serious condition.
