[Saint-Valentin] 5 idées cadeaux basées sur la psychologie amoureuse

With Valentine's Day approaching, celebrated this Saturday, February 14, 2026, couples are already busy searching for the perfect gift. But how can they avoid a generic or poorly chosen present? To help lovers, Seneweb spoke with Kiné Ndiaye, a relationship coach. According to her, there is no such thing as a universal gift: it all depends on the partner's emotional profile and their "love language."

"A gift should fulfill an emotional need."

When asked about the five ideal gifts, Kiné Ndiaye first emphasizes the psychological dimension: "A gift is a visible proof of love. But for it to truly touch the other person, it must be aligned with their expectations. Whatever its value, if the gift does not meet the emotional needs of the partner, the effect will be nonexistent."

Here are the five types of gifts corresponding to the five love languages identified by the specialist:

1. For the partner sensitive to words: the personalized declaration

For someone who often criticizes their partner for their lack of verbal expression, the ideal gift is a handwritten love letter, an object engraved with an intimate message, or even a declaration of love delivered by a singer in a specially arranged setting. "This type of gesture leaves a deep mark on the heart and memory," explains the coach.

2. For those who demand time: quality time

If your partner complains about not being around you, give them the gift of time. The ideal present is a romantic weekend getaway (since the holiday falls on a Saturday this year) or a carefully planned outing. Here, the gift of time is worth far more than any material possession.

3. For the partner attached to symbols: the material object

In some relationships, the absence of material gifts creates frustration. The ideal gift is then a piece of jewelry, a watch, or a personalized gift box. These objects become emotional markers and tangible symbols of commitment, particularly precious during difficult times.

4. For the exhausted partner: care and recognition

Faced with the pressures of work and family responsibilities, the ideal gift is a moment of relaxation: a massage, a spa session, or a hammam. Accompanied by a thank-you note for their daily dedication, this gesture provides genuine emotional relief.

5. For the partner seeking intimacy: the intimate experience

The aim here is to fulfill a shared desire or fantasy with respect and mutual consent. The goal is to create a unique and memorable moment. The coach emphasizes that nothing should be forced: complicity must remain paramount.

For Kiné Ndiaye, Valentine's Day is first and foremost an opportunity to "nurture the bond and remind the other person that they matter." More than the price, it's the deep understanding of the other person's needs that transforms a simple gift into an unforgettable memory.
