Saisies de médicaments et de drogue par les Douanes : deux sexagénaires déguisés en religieux arrêtés
As part of its mission to protect the population from harmful products, the Central and Southeastern units of the Senegalese Customs Directorate General have intensified surveillance along the borders. These targeted operations have resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of counterfeit medicines, aphrodisiacs, and cannabis.
Major police operation in Keur-Moussa and Keur-Ayib
Customs officers at the Keur-Moussa post, part of the Kaolack subdivision, intercepted a large shipment of medications valued at nearly 58 million CFA francs. The operation took place on the night of February 13, 2026, in Colobane, in the Fatick region. It followed surveillance of a suspicious vehicle that was making frequent trips between the border and major cities in the central region. The cargo consisted of aphrodisiacs, antihistamines, analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and veterinary products.
Furthermore, a rather unusual scheme was foiled by the Keur-Ayib Commercial Brigade on February 6, 2026.
Two men, aged 60 and 62 respectively, were arrested in Ndiba-Ndiayene, in the Nioro department. To transport 15 kilograms of marijuana, the two men had disguised themselves as religious leaders, concealing the drugs in packages taped directly to their bodies. They were arrested as they were about to travel to Dakar in a public transport vehicle.
Dismantling of an illegal warehouse in the Southeast
In the Kédougou region, the Moussala Commercial Brigade also made a significant impact. On February 13, 2026, the interception of a motorcycle on the Kédougou-Moussala road led to an illegal warehouse. A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of a stockpile of counterfeit medications and aphrodisiacs valued at 12 million CFA francs. The owner of the warehouse was immediately apprehended and brought before the courts.
These successive seizures confirm the determination of Senegalese Customs to lock down the corridors of illicit trafficking in order to preserve public health.
