The Saly-Portudal district police station, under the command of Commissioner Oumar Mbaye, dealt a major blow to the criminal underworld. During the night of February 12-13, 2026, police arrested a repeat offender in possession of 61 kilos of kush, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.

 

The arrest was made possible thanks to the tenacity and responsiveness of the detectives in following up on a tip. Members of the Criminal Investigation Brigade, during their night patrol, had received information indicating the presence of SN, wanted for a phone theft, at a residence near the Saly intersection.

 

The transport to the scene led to the discovery of the suspect and another person, named Seydina, smoking drugs in a room. A thorough search of the premises allowed the police to find a bag containing 61 kepas of kush.

 

SN, 38, a street vendor residing in Saly Aérodrome, was arrested and taken to the police station. His accomplice, Seydina, managed to escape and is the subject of an active manhunt.

 

When questioned, the suspect denied owning the drugs, claiming they belonged to his accomplice who was on the run. His explanations failed to convince investigators.

 

A repeat offender well known to the authorities

 

It should be noted that SN is well known to the Saly-Portudal urban police station. He had already been brought before the court twice for theft and assault and battery.

 

The suspect, who is being prosecuted for drug trafficking, was brought before the prosecutor at the High Court of Mbour.

 

Kush is a particularly potent variety of cannabis, originating from the Hindu Kush mountain range. Its consumption can cause significant effects, including strong addiction, cognitive impairment, respiratory problems, intense anxiety, paranoia, and, in some cases, psychotic episodes. It is considered a high-risk drug due to its potency.
