Saly : Deux faussaires arrêtés avec 1 400 euros de faux billets
On the night of October 3 to 4, 2025, at around 9 p.m., elements of the Research Brigade of the Saly urban police station (Mbour) arrested two individuals involved in a network of trafficking in counterfeit banknotes operating between Dakar and Saly.
The operation followed an anonymous tip reporting the existence of a counterfeiting network active in the area. Investigators, acting undercover, set up a bait system to trap the suspects.
The latter, unsuspecting, arrived at the agreed meeting place in possession of 28 €50 notes, for a total of €1,400 in counterfeit money. The police immediately seized the notes and arrested the two suspects.
The suspects identified are B. Diop, a sales agent, passing through Saly Portudal and B. Coulibaly, a delivery man, also passing through Saly Portudal.
A requisition sent to the relevant banking institutions confirmed, after verification, that the seized notes were counterfeit.
Given the seriousness of the facts, the two individuals were placed in police custody before being brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Mbour High Court, at the end of the investigation carried out by the Saly police station.
