Saly Portudal : la promesse de mariage finit au tribunal
What was supposed to be a romance turned into a legal nightmare in Saly Portudal. After a week of living together in a private villa, K. Kâ, a divorced woman, was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence for stealing her partner I. Diouf's phone and clothes, reports L'Observateur.
The two met on September 21st through a mutual friend, the same source rewinds. Seduced from the first exchanges, via video call, I. Diouf sent her 10,000 CFA francs so that she would leave Touba and join him in Saly, where he promised to marry her. Once there, the lovebirds settled into a villa rented for the occasion. During this week of intimacy, I. Diouf covered all the expenses of the stay, even going so far as to finance, from Touba, the birthday party of his new partner's daughter. In return, K. Kâ showed himself available to satisfy his partner's every desire.
But the romance is turned upside down by... a phone charger. After seven days together, a violent argument breaks out when the man refuses to buy a new one. The quarrel drags on late into the night. Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, K. Kâ steals her lover's iPhone and personal belongings before disappearing.
Arrested later in Dakar, the accused denied any romantic relationship, citing a "legitimate confiscation" on the grounds that her partner owed her money for filming services. This version was contradicted by the friend who facilitated their meeting. The court, considering that the stolen items were returned, sentenced K. Kâ to a six-month suspended prison sentence, adds the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, which attended the hearing.
