An individual wanted for several cases of assault and robbery with violence was arrested by the police in Saly-Portudal (Mbour) before being brought before the Prosecutor's Office of the High Court (TGI) of Mbour.

The individual in question is L. Ba. He was apprehended on February 6, 2026, at approximately 7:05 PM by officers from the Saly-Portudal Urban Police Station's Criminal Investigation Unit. The officers, patrolling the neighborhoods of the seaside resort, were alerted to an attempted robbery in Saly Niakh-Niakhal, involving an individual actively wanted for assault and subsequent motorcycle theft.

An immediate trip to the scene led to the arrest of the suspect, who identified himself as L. Ba, a mechanic by profession and residing in Saly Niakh-Niakhal.

The checks carried out by the investigators in their records revealed several statements from victims reporting pickpocketing, assaults and robberies with violence committed at night using a bladed weapon, attributed to the same individual.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a search was conducted at the suspect's home. Police discovered a machete, identified as the weapon used in some of the attacks. The machete was seized, placed under seal, and deposited with the clerk of the Mbour High Court.

Furthermore, following the arrest, several complainants, including S. Sylla, S. Bop, R. Seck, B. Diop and C. Tidiane Gueye, filed written complaints with the judicial authorities, denouncing similar acts committed using the same modus operandi.

L. Ba denied most of the accusations. He admitted only to the attempted robbery that led to his arrest and a single assault, without providing further details. However, the police describe him as a notorious criminal involved in several assaults and motorcycle thefts between Saly and Mbour.

At the end of the investigation, the suspect was brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office of the High Court of Mbour for criminal association and armed robbery committed at night with a bladed weapon.
