Saraya : le préfet Babacar Niang lance l’opération de libération des emprises de la RN7.

The prefect of the Saraya department, Babacar Niang, led a field mission this Wednesday dedicated to the reorganization of public space and the security of National Road No. 7 (RN7). This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the town hall, department heads, security forces, and representatives of traders and artisans, aims to restore order and fluidity on a strategic road heavily used by transport vehicles and mining trucks.

According to the prefect, this approach is part of a risk prevention and road safety improvement strategy. "We have observed irregular occupations all along the RN7, from the entrance to Saraya to the exit towards Dalafing. It was necessary to meet with shopkeepers and artisans to raise their awareness of the dangers this poses," he explained.

A participatory and concerted approach

Unlike some operations that are often perceived as repressive, this one is based on dialogue and consultation. The prefect welcomed the willingness of the traders, who agreed to support the authorities in this phase of reorganization.

A complete inventory of occupations has already been carried out, and the occupants concerned have committed to voluntarily vacate the land in the coming days.

A consultation meeting will be held with the town hall, neighborhood representatives, and professional associations to define the practical arrangements for relocating economic activities to more suitable and secure areas. "There was no opposition during our visits. We welcome the mayor's commitment and the cooperative spirit of the traders," the prefect emphasized.

Call for civic responsibility

Finally, Babacar Niang invited all residents to preserve public spaces sustainably.

"We call on the public to denounce any new illegal occupation. Traders and artisans wishing to set up shop should contact the municipal authorities to receive support in finding compliant and secure sites," he urged.

This initiative marks a new stage in the urban modernization of Saraya, where the authorities intend to reconcile public order, road safety and local economic development.
