Scandale sexuel : Serigne Assane Mbacké et Cie devant la Chambre criminelle le 16 septembre
The investigation into the Serigne Assane Mbacké case has been closed. The cleric, along with his co-defendants—Khadim Samb, alias "Dibor," receptionist Abdourahmane Lô, shopkeeper Ibrahima Badiane, and Baidy Hamady Sow—will appear before the Dakar Criminal Court on September 16. They will face serious charges: rape, unnatural acts, pedophilia, pimping, and corruption of minors.
It all started with a complaint from a father, AS Diouf rewinds to L'Observateur, who discovered the exploitation of his underage son. "I confiscated his phone and saw suspicious messages. My 16-year-old child was in contact with homosexuals," he told investigators.
The victim, interviewed by the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC), gave a chilling account: "It was Serigne Assane Mbacké who introduced me to the network. One day, at Baidy's, they forced me to undress. He had sex with me in front of Serigne Assane. Afterward, my stomach hurt and I was bleeding. When I wanted to talk, they threatened me with death and witchcraft."
The minor also claimed that the cleric "often put him in touch with other men via Facebook or in person." A second teenager, aged 17, confirmed the accusations and denounced the same practices.
Although Serigne Assane initially denied the charges, he eventually confessed to investigators that he had abused minors. He attempted to justify himself by declaring that he suffered from "uncontrollable sexual urges," which he said were linked to childhood trauma.
After several legal twists and turns and rejected requests for bail, the case is entering its decisive phase: a highly anticipated trial, more than a year after the scandal broke.
