"Se nourrir est un défi quotidien", "l'insécurité gagne du terrain" : Le réquisitoire de Talla Sylla contre le pouvoir PASTEF
"They promised the people a radical break and courageous solutions. Today, the observation is bitter: there has been neither break nor solution. Worse, the populations are going through more difficult situations than ever. Their daily lives, marked by uncertainty and precariousness, have become unbearable." This observation is that of Talla Sylla, president of Jëf Jël / Jàmm ak Naatange, in a reflection on the theme: "The time for a resurgence: Takk Jog for a just and prosperous Senegal."
The former minister-advisor to President Macky Sall invites his compatriots to face reality: "The promise to lower the cost of living has come up against the wall of facts: the price of rice, oil and sugar continues to suffocate our families, making the simple act of feeding ourselves a daily challenge. The household basket is getting lighter and lighter, but the burden on their shoulders is getting heavier and heavier."
He continues: "Our cities and countryside bear the scars of inaction. Every winter, floods transform our streets in Keur Massar, Yeumbeul, or the suburbs of Dakar, severely test the holy city of Touba, and devastate the land along the Senegal River, sweeping away the meager possessions of hardworking families who only ask to live in dignity."
What can we say, asks the former mayor of Thiès, about our youth, our greatest wealth? He laments: "Thousands of young graduates and idlers wander without prospects, their energy and talent wasted. This despair drives them, alas, towards the canoes of death, preferring to risk their lives in the ocean rather than face a blocked future. It is the failure of a nation that cannot hold on to its children." Talla Sylla considers that "our health system is in agony. Getting treatment has become a luxury. Our hospitals lack everything, from basic equipment to essential medicines, and our valiant health workers are at their wit's end."
Meanwhile, he notes, "parents, with heavy hearts, are struggling to find the means to return to school, sacrificing everything for their children's future."
He added: "Insecurity in our streets is gaining ground, depriving us of our peace and quiet. Fear sets in as soon as night falls, and social cohesion, the glue of our nation, is crumbling in the face of rising violence." According to him, no grandiloquent declaration has brought relief or solutions to fathers and mothers, nor to the starving children of disadvantaged neighborhoods.
Speaking of the system, Talla Sylla finds the disappointment total. "The entire system of the old regimes, with its privileges and slowness, remains in place. It is simply reused to serve the new holders of power, with all due respect to the thurifers (followers of Xasteef and Ñaawteef) of this regime," he said. In terms of freedoms, he considers that "the hydra has simply changed its mask; criticism is barely tolerated and protest is quickly repressed." He deplores the fact that leaders continue to ride in luxury motorcades, "insulting our poverty, deepening the wounds of an already drained people."
Faced with this "betrayal of hope," Talla Sylla asserts that "discouragement is not an option. Resignation would be our worst enemy. The alternative will not come from a providential man, but from our collective awakening. It lies in the establishment of a broad, civic and patriotic front, bringing together all those who are passionate about justice, freedoms and a tangible well-being for all." This alternative, the former mayor of Thiès calls it Takk Jog (Stand up and Walk). He specifies: "Takk Jog is not just another party. It is a movement, a contract of trust, a call to all the vital forces of the nation – unions, civil society, entrepreneurs, farmers, young people, women – to build a new Senegal. A Senegal where food sovereignty is not a slogan, but a reality in our fields. A Senegal where our young people find decent employment here, at home." A Senegal where health and education are guaranteed rights for all, not privileges. A Senegal where our resources finally benefit the people.
Talla Sylla concludes with a call: "The time for lamentations is over, but for organized, peaceful, and determined action. Let us gather our forces, unite our voices, and together build the credible and reassuring alternative that our people are waiting for. The road is long, but our determination is unwavering. For our children, for our homeland, there is hope, because hope is us. Takk Jog! For the homeland, we will rise up and march!"
