Sédhiou : Coup d'arrêt au trafic de drogue à Kamoya, 24 kg de chanvre indien saisis
The Sédhiou Regional Narcotics Brigade, under the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS), carried out, on January 24, 2026, the seizure of twenty-four (24) kilograms of Indian hemp as well as a SAFARI brand motorcycle in Kamoya.
This operation followed the exploitation of operational intelligence indicating the imminent passage of a drug convoy. Around midnight, officers from the brigade spotted an individual traveling at high speed on a motorcycle. He refused to comply with orders and forced his way through the checkpoint that had been set up.
During his escape, the suspect, who was mentally unstable, abandoned his motorcycle and cargo before disappearing into the bush. A search of the cargo revealed three (03) bags, each containing eight (08) blocks of Indian hemp, for a total weight of twenty-four (24) kilograms of the so-called "green" variety.
The drugs and the motorcycle were taken to the department headquarters. An investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
