Sénégal-Égypte : Un mort et un blessé grave lors des célébrations de la victoire à Ziguinchor
The scenes of jubilation following Senegal's victory against Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final unfortunately turned to tragedy. The aftermath was disastrous with the tragic death of a young man in his thirties, reports the Groupe Médias du Sud (GMS) in its morning edition.
"A serious traffic accident occurred on the road leading to the Ziguinchor regional hospital, passing through the Grand Dakar market," reads the GMS page.
The accident, which occurred as fans celebrated in the streets, involved a collision between two motorcyclists. Both victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Ziguinchor Regional Hospital, according to our sources.
Unfortunately, one of the injured, identified as Omar, originally from Touba and in his thirties, succumbed to his injuries.
The second driver, according to GMS, was taken to the intensive care unit.
GMS, citing their source, reports that the young man who died was a well-known merchant at the Mariama Diédhiou market, commonly known as the Grand Dakar market. His body has been taken to the morgue at the Regional Hospital Center, pending the necessary formalities.
