Affaire du Navire tanker Mersin : Le Port de Dakar fait le point sur les opérations de sécurisation
The Port Authority of Dakar (PAD) has just provided an update on the operations to secure the tanker "Mersin," off the coast of Dakar. It reports that these operations are actively continuing. Despite unfavorable wind conditions at sea, the vessel remains stable and under constant surveillance, the PAD indicates.
"To expedite the resolution of the situation, a specialized team of mine clearance divers from the company Tous Travaux Sous-Marins (Tts) was dispatched to the area by the Autonomous Port of Dakar. This team is conducting a thorough technical assessment and targeted interventions on the hull. It is supported by a patrol boat from the National Navy, which is providing close surveillance and security of the intervention perimeter," the Port Authority of Dakar stated in its press release.
For its part, the High Authority for Maritime Safety (Hassmar) is leading all actions in close collaboration with the Autonomous Port of Dakar and the National Maritime Aviation Agency (Anam). Ongoing technical discussions are also being maintained with representatives of the ship's owner, according to the Port Authority.
"The objective of this joint mobilization remains unchanged: to validate and implement as soon as possible the safest and most appropriate technical solution to definitively secure the ship and its cargo, prioritizing the absolute protection of the marine environment," the structure headed by Waly Diouf Bodian said in its statement.
As a reminder, the oil tanker was hit by four external explosions last week, resulting in water seepage into the engine room. Safety measures are underway about ten kilometers off the coast of Dakar to stabilize the Mersin, an oil tanker operated by the Turkish shipping company Besiktas, which is carrying a cargo of nearly 39,000 tons of diesel fuel.
The current challenge is to do everything possible to prevent the ship's contents from spilling into Senegalese waters.

La population se nourrit principalement de poissons et produits halieutiques, et que dire du nombre de travailleurs dans ce domaine?
Et en plus tu n'entends l'état sénégalais nulle part. Ils n'ont même pas fait une sortie pour condamner ce qe que l'Ukraine a fait. Normalement l'ambassadeur ukrainien aurait du être immédiatement convoqué et les relations diplomatiques entre le Sénégal et l'Ukraine devaient être rompu à l'heure où on parle. C'est trop grave ce qu'ils ont fait!
