Soumbédioune : Le corps d'un pêcheur disparu retrouvé
On April 28, 2026, the Medina district police station was notified of the disappearance at sea of a fisherman. The searches launched by the authorities and firefighters were unsuccessful.
On May 5, 2026, around 5 p.m., fishermen from Soumbédioune discovered a lifeless body on the shore and alerted the police. Upon arrival, investigators identified the victim as MS, also known as Pape S., 36 years old, a fisherman residing in Fann Hock.
According to witness MD's statement, there were four fishermen aboard a dugout canoe on the day of the incident. After paddling for about a kilometer, the victim reportedly suffered a sudden seizure before falling into the water. The victim was formally identified by his colleagues by the clothing he was wearing on the day of his disappearance.
Firefighters from the 11th company of the Malick Sy fire station responded to the scene and carried out the standard procedures. Requests were sent to various hospitals for autopsies. The public prosecutor was informed.
