A large-scale operation conducted under the supervision of the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mouhamadou Bamba Cissé, resulted in the arrest of 105 people during the night of January 3-4, 2026, in the suburbs of Dakar. This joint police-gendarmerie operation took place from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

The operation mobilized considerable resources, with 248 law enforcement personnel, including 100 members of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI), 130 officers from the Departmental Public Security Services and the Dakar Central Police Station, as well as motorized squadrons of the Gendarmerie. This force was supported by 28 vehicles and 2 surveillance drones.

The operation took place in the presence of high authorities, including the Governor of the Dakar region, the Director of Public Security, the Central Commissioner of Dakar, as well as the Central Commissioner of Guédiawaye and his deputies.

The operation began with a briefing at the Thiaroye district police station. Law enforcement officers then deployed to Mbeubeuss in the Malika commune, then to Malibou, before concluding at the Beaux Maraîchers train station. A visit to the Dalifort district police station, whose inauguration is scheduled for the near future, concluded the operation.

This large-scale security operation resulted in the arrest of 105 people for various offenses. Of these arrests, 50 people were checked for identity verification and 5 for investigative purposes.

In terms of narcotics and public order, 31 individuals were apprehended for public drunkenness, 3 for possession of cellulosic products, 4 for Indian hemp and 1 for trafficking Kush with a seizure of 13 pieces.

Regarding criminal offences, 4 people were arrested for theft committed at night, 2 for fraud, 2 for rebellion and 1 for abduction of a minor.

The operation also led to the arrest of 2 people implicated in manslaughter and unintentional injury by accident.

Traffic control generated significant activity during this operation. Law enforcement officers impounded 80 motorcycles and 15 vehicles, carried out 19 impoundments, and seized 182 administrative documents.

Fixed fines have allowed us to recover 217,000 CFA francs.

Objectives achieved without incident

The operation proceeded without major incident, thus fulfilling the objectives set by the authorities regarding the fight against residual insecurity in this strategic area of the Dakar suburbs. This action demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening public safety and effectively combating delinquency and crime in the Dakar region.
