Sous le choc : Les etudiants de Thiès exigent une enquête et un dispositif de sécurité "convenable" après l'attaque armée
The Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès (UIDT) was the scene of a terrifying armed attack on the night of November 7-8, 2025. Faced with this incident of "extreme gravity", the Conference of Student Associations (CAE) expressed its deep indignation and issued an ultimatum to the authorities.
According to the students, individuals armed with rifles and machetes stormed the campus, threatening residents, attacking a shopkeeper with a machete, robbing a convenience store of a large sum of money, and firing shots before fleeing.
The CAE (Coalition of Student Associations) denounces major flaws in the security system and believes that the current configuration of the UIDT (University Institute of Technology of Dijon) endangers the lives and property of students. Students point to: the inadequacy of campus security guards, who are not properly equipped; a defective perimeter wall; a lack of surveillance cameras and insufficient lighting; and a general "laxity" regarding security.
Faced with fear, the CAE is setting firm demands to guarantee security on all university sites: the opening of a thorough investigation to identify and punish the perpetrators of the attack, the complete repair and upgrading of the perimeter walls, the installation of gates and control posts at entrances and exits, the strengthening of the security system (qualified and armed agents, total lighting, the installation of surveillance cameras covering the entire university).
The CAE warns that, in the event of inaction, it reserves the right to use all means at its disposal to guarantee the safety of its members.
