Stratégie nationale de Protection sociale et de solidarité nationale: Des acteurs locaux de Tambacounda bénéficient d'un renforcement de capacités
The General Delegation for Social Protection and National Solidarity closed this Friday a capacity building workshop for social protection stakeholders in the eastern capital, which opened on Thursday at the Governance premises.
The closing ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Governor for Development.
This workshop is part of the national approach aimed at building an inclusive, equitable and sustainable social protection system, based on the principle of solidarity.
According to Matar Sène, General Delegate for Social Protection and National Solidarity, it aims to reduce the vulnerability of populations to social risks such as illness, unemployment, old age, and to guarantee a minimum base of rights for all.
Matar Sène adds that the system is structured around contributory (social insurance) and non-contributory (assistance, social safety nets) mechanisms, thus strengthening the resilience and opportunities of the most vulnerable populations.
He took the opportunity to announce a territorialization of social policies, through the creation of regional social protection centers that aim to adapt responses to the specific needs of local populations. He called on local authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society, and the private sector to make social protection a true act of national solidarity.
