Tabaski ci Jamm ak Fondation PAD: quand le Port Autonome de Dakar transforme la solidarité en tradition
There are institutions that engage in social work out of obligation. There are others that have made it their vocation. The Autonomous Port of Dakar is one of the latter.
Since its creation in 2018, the PAD Foundation has tirelessly supported vulnerable communities within the port ecosystem, a rich and diverse environment comprised of active workers, retirees, dockworkers' families, administrative staff, service providers, and all those whose lives are intimately linked to the Port. The Foundation is present alongside them throughout the year: from classrooms and health centers to environmental initiatives and major religious ceremonies. The Port never sleeps, and neither does its generosity.
During this Tabaski 2026 period, this act of solidarity focused on two groups particularly dear to the Foundation's heart: the families of deceased port workers, and vulnerable people within the port area. These valiant men and women, whether they dedicated their lives to the Port or live in precarious circumstances nearby, are an integral part of the port community. Although the deceased have passed away, their families remain, and the PAD Foundation does not forget them. Similarly, those living in vulnerability within the port area find concrete and compassionate support in the Foundation.
For the fourth consecutive year of the "Tabaski ci Jamm ak Fondation PAD" initiative, a warm and official visit was held under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the PAD Foundation Board. Rams and financial contributions were presented to the families of deceased port workers from the past three years, as well as to vulnerable people within the port community, so that this holiday could be celebrated in peace, dignity, and joy.
The handover moments were powerful and moving. With each family or beneficiary, the same words resonated, carried by genuine emotion: "Receiving this gesture from the PAD Foundation means feeling that our loved ones have not been forgotten, and that those living in need are not ignored. That the Port remembers. That the port community is a family, even in loss and hardship."
Four editions. Four years of faithfulness to this promise. The PAD Foundation does not engage in social work piecemeal: it lives it, it cultivates it, and it makes it a lasting, humane, and sincere tradition.
The PAD Foundation, Acting for the well-being of all.
