Télécoms: Un Sénégalais promu DG d’Airtel Kenya
On Monday, June 29, Airtel Kenya officially announced the appointment of Djibril Tobe as Managing Director, replacing Ashish Malhotra. The Senegalese national, known for his discretion and hard work, is already well-versed in Africa's most demanding markets. Mr. Tobe is not new to the African telecommunications sector; he knows it intimately.
Since May 2023, he had been leading Airtel Congo-Brazzaville. In three years, he guided the operator to solid results in a highly competitive environment. Prior to that, he led Airtel Chad and left a positive legacy. He also held commercial management positions at Airtel Burkina Faso and Expresso Guinea.
In total, he has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications, consumer goods, and consulting, including stints at Ernst & Young and Coca-Cola. His CV speaks volumes about management, performance, and execution.
In Nairobi, starting July 1st, he takes the reins of a rapidly growing subsidiary. Djibril Tobe is tasked with shaking things up and playing a leading role in this strategic market, one of the most competitive on the continent.
