Thiaroye : Deux boulangeries clandestines démantelées, sept suspects arrêtées
On Wednesday, December 4, 2025, the Thiaroye district police station arrested seven individuals operating two clandestine bakeries in deplorable hygiene conditions.
The suspects are being prosecuted for producing and selling food unfit for consumption, deception regarding quality, endangering the lives of others, and violating regulations governing bakery and pastry activities in Senegal.
These arrests follow the exploitation of operational intelligence indicating the presence of two clandestine bakeries in Thiaroye Tally Diallo. The investigation brigade, reinforced by an intervention unit, was mobilized to carry out this operation.
First Bakery: Alarming Hygiene Conditions
The inspection of the first bakery, carried out in the presence of those involved, revealed particularly worrying sanitary conditions.
Law enforcement seized a batch of materials including two bottles of oil, eight bags of flour, one bag of sugar, one bag of salt, four iron trays for making bread, and fourteen cartons of bread representing the daily production.
A sum of money, representing the proceeds of their illicit trade, was found in the manager's possession, along with a consular card.
Further investigations revealed an alarming sanitary situation. The bread production room was located right next to the toilets. The toilets emitted a foul odor due to the unsanitary conditions. Moreover, crates of bread had been placed directly on the floor awaiting delivery, thus exposing the products to contamination.
Second Bakery: Managers Flee
A raid was then carried out on the second illegal bakery, located in the same neighborhood. The owners fled as soon as the police arrived.
They abandoned another batch of materials including twenty-six bags of flour, four crates of bread and three mobile phones.
The entire production machine was seized and placed under seal by investigators.
The suspects were taken into custody at the Thiaroye district police station. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of this clandestine production network and identify the distribution channels for these products, which are dangerous to public health.
