Thiès : braquage armé dans deux usines, 20 hommes cagoulés emportent 50 millions F CFA
Around twenty heavily armed, hooded men attacked the CIMAF and CBMI factories, located in Allou Kagne, in the Thiès region, on Sunday night. The former produces cement, while the latter, owned by China, provides various construction services.
The Observer, which provided the information, states that the criminals started with CIMAF. Armed with machetes, knives, shotguns, and pistols, they invaded the factory, tied up the security guards, and seriously injured the station manager before using him as a guide for a tour of the offices.
"For nearly an hour," witnesses explained, "the burglars methodically searched and looted all the rooms, without finding any money to take," the daily newspaper reported.
The attackers then chose to visit the CBMI factory where the Chinese staff were housed, hoping to find some money to take home. They were served, according to the same source: "They neutralized the guards before entering the accommodation. It was finally in the [site] manager's office that the criminals located a safe containing 50 million CFA francs. After seizing it, they disappeared into thin air, leaving behind traumatized staff and guards who were still hampered."
The Pout gendarmerie was deployed to the scene shortly after the burglars left and opened an investigation, concludes L'Observateur.
