Thiès : Des bandes d'agresseurs sèment la terreur dans les rues, à la fin des combats de lutte
Mobile phone thefts, assaults, lack of security. This was the scene in the streets of Thiès, particularly on the Khombole road, at the end of the big wrestling match organized this Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Ndiaw Macodou Diop racecourse, opposite the Gmi Tropical camp.
A crowd of supporters flooded the streets and sowed violence. For about thirty minutes, horror and fear gripped the residents along the roundabout near the racecourse and the Total gas station, which connects the Hersent, Diamaguene, and Mbambara Alé Lo neighborhoods.
The attackers, consisting of pickpockets and individuals armed with machetes, stole everything in their path: phones, wallets, jewelry. Even motorcycle taxi drivers were forced to release their passengers to escape the attackers.
It required the prompt intervention of officers from the central police station, the 1st arrondissement police station and the Parcelles-Assainies station to put an end to it.
Local residents denounced the organizers' failures to respect the schedules and routes of the wrestlers, which exacerbated the violence.

Ce pays va à la dérive. Toujours les mêmes scènes après les combats de lutte. Et ça fait plus de vingt ans que ça dure. Et bientôt, je ne serai pas surpris qu'on observe les mêmes scènes de violence après les matchs de football. Est-on condamné à vivre cette situation toute notre vie ?
