Thiès : « Je me soulageais », G. Dia jugé pour usage de chanvre indien
G. Dia, a married father of several children, appeared this Friday before the Thiès court for flagrant offenses, charged with using marijuana. He had been arrested in possession of the drug before being remanded in custody.
In court, the defendant did not deny the facts and admitted to having consumed Indian hemp, asking for leniency from the court.
G. Dia explained his consumption, despite the prohibitions of those around him: "I will no longer touch Indian hemp. Even my children had forbidden me this drug but I continued to hide in the toilets to smoke. I relieved myself with Indian hemp, but I swear to you that I will no longer smoke this drug," he confided.
Considering the facts to be consistent, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The verdict is expected soon to determine G. Dia's guilt in the face of accusations of using Indian hemp.
