Thiès : La Douane confirme le décès d'un de ses agents, un individu arrêté
The General Directorate of Customs (DGD) announced with deep sorrow the death in the line of duty of Chief Customs Officer Adama Ndiaye. The officer was stationed at Brigade No. 1 of the Multipurpose Fraud Investigation and Repression Group (GPR) in Thiès. His death occurred in particularly tragic circumstances, causing profound grief within the Customs Administration.
The events took place late in the evening of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at around 11 p.m. Agent Ndiaye and two of his colleagues, carrying a mission order, were conducting a routine patrol and control service in the area leading towards Mboro.
The squad spotted a truck deemed suspicious parked in Darou Khoudous, specifically on the ICS Road, opposite the local municipal stadium. The customs team then stopped the vehicle to check the truck's contents, a standard procedure in the fight against fraud.
It was at this critical moment that the situation changed drastically. The truck driver sped off and, in a deliberate act, drove straight at the officers, fatally striking Chief Investigation Officer Adama Ndiaye.
Despite the shock, the two other Customs officers immediately gave chase. They managed to catch up with the truck a little further on, but the three individuals on board managed to escape into the night, temporarily evading arrest.
Upon being informed of this tragic incident, the Director General of Customs immediately gave firm instructions to the Director of Customs Operations to ensure a diligent follow-up to the investigation. The objective was to quickly clarify the exact circumstances of the tragedy and identify those responsible.
The investigative efforts conducted by the relevant authorities quickly bore fruit. The DGD confirmed that ongoing investigations led to the location and apprehension of the truck driver. This progress is crucial in determining responsibility for this act of violence.
The Director General and all the staff of the Customs Administration bowed "piously before the memory of this devoted, competent and loyal agent, who died in the service of the economic and security defense of our country."
The Directorate General of Customs, through its Communication and Public Relations Division, offered its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Officer Adama Ndiaye, praying for the repose of his soul.
