In Thiès, the livestock markets are overflowing with flocks of Tabaski sheep, with sellers coming from several regions of the country. In addition, there is a large supply of livestock, with numerous sales points established in neighborhoods and in almost every public square in the city.
Despite everything, sales are slow to take off. Customers are still reluctant due to prices considered very high. With a few exceptions, breeders and retailers continue to refuse to lower costs, citing the numerous difficulties they face, including rising feed prices, water supply problems, and the costs associated with transporting and caring for animals.
Many heads of households are complaining about prices that have become unaffordable. The vast majority of sheep, many of which are of poor quality, are priced between 125,000 and 280,000 CFA francs.
