Thiès : L'ivrogne B. Diakhaté jeté en prison par sa belle-sœur pour menaces de mort et injures
In Thiès, B. Diakhaté, aged 46, was detained following a complaint filed by his sister-in-law, M. Kassé, wife of his older brother. He is being prosecuted for death threats and insults.
In the dock of the Thiès court of flagrant offenses this Friday, January 16, the defendant denied the facts of making death threats, while admitting to having uttered insults against the complainant.
For her part, the plaintiff explained that the accused, her husband's younger brother, forbids his children from entering certain parts of the house. She claims that he regularly insults her, notably calling her a witch, and accuses her of bringing misfortune to the family. Ms. M. Kassé also maintains that he threatens her with a machete and that, under the influence of alcohol, he hurls insults at her and her mother.
Five witnesses and family members confirmed the statements of the civil party.
The public prosecutor requested that the charges of death threats be reclassified as violence and assault, and requested a two-month prison sentence for the defendant.
The verdict is expected soon.
