Thiès : Sept interpellations après le démantèlement d'une cellule de QNET à Nguinth
A large-scale operation conducted by the Nguinth police station in Thiès led to the dismantling of a fraud network operating under the guise of the QNET system. Seven individuals were arrested and taken into custody for conspiracy and alleged fraud.
The investigation was launched following a tip-off about a particularly active cell operating within a compound in the Nguinth district. Police then set up surveillance and stakeouts before raiding the premises. The operation led to the arrest of seven suspects.
During the searches, investigators seized a laptop containing propaganda videos, a Wi-Fi modem, a landline phone, catalogs showcasing the QNET system and its products, as well as several diaries containing activity plans and financial statements. All the recovered material was recorded for the purposes of the proceedings.
The mirage of fake job offers
According to initial testimonies gathered by investigators, the victims were lured by fake job offers in online sales and entrepreneurship. Recruiters promised them significant weekly income to convince them to sign up. Once at the premises, the candidates were required to pay 600,000 FCFA for the purchase of a purported health or wellness product. They were then encouraged to recruit six other "partners" in order to earn a weekly commission estimated at 195 euros.
The investigation revealed that the products offered did not actually exist. One of the victims told investigators that she had asked her relatives to raise the required 600,000 FCFA, but never received her order, which was supposed to come from Malaysia.
Analysis of the suspects' mobile phones also confirmed their active involvement in this alleged pyramid scheme. The investigation is ongoing to identify any other potential victims and determine the exact regional scope of this network.
