Thiès : Un présumé agresseur lynché à mort par la foule au quartier Hersent
The densely populated Hersent neighborhood, located in the Thiès-Est district, was the scene of a horrific act of mob justice. Young Yatma D., suspected of being an aggressor, was beaten to death by an angry mob. The event has plunged his family, who live near the Kheulgua market, into deep sorrow. The victim's relatives are still struggling to comprehend the circumstances of this brutal death. According to initial reports, the young man was allegedly lynched after a young woman called for help, claiming that her cell phone had been stolen by two men on a motorcycle.
“Rumors are circulating that Yatma and another young man were on the motorcycle, but the latter apparently managed to escape and disappear. After falling off the vehicle, Yatma was surrounded by a crowd who rushed at him, beating him until he died. Yet, our son was an exemplary young man; he didn't smoke or drink alcohol. He was in his thirties and leaves behind a wife and three children,” a shocked family member said.
The victim's body was transported to Dakar for an autopsy to scientifically determine the cause of death. Refusing to accept the theory of a simple attack, the family is demanding a thorough judicial investigation to fully uncover the circumstances of this lynching and identify those responsible.
