Thiès : une tentative de corruption aggrave un dossier de trafic de drogue
Police officers from the first district police station in Thiès arrested two individuals last Wednesday who were involved in a drug trafficking case, along with an attempted bribery.
The operation followed a tip-off about a significant marijuana trafficking network in the area. As part of this investigation, law enforcement arrested two individuals for offering, selling, and possessing marijuana. They are C. Faye, 22, a motorcycle taxi driver residing in Silmang, and PB Bâ, 18, who claims to be a mechanic and resides in the Hersent neighborhood.
The body search revealed 32 cones of Indian hemp on the first man, while a partially used cone was found in the possession of the second.
After being taken to the police station for questioning, a new development complicated the case. A woman identified as W. Diop, 23 years old, a restaurant owner residing in the Silmang neighborhood, presented herself at the police station with 230,000 CFA francs, which she attempted to hand over to the head of the investigation unit in order to secure the release of C. Faye, according to Seneweb sources.
When questioned about the origin of the money, she stated that she acted on the instructions of her cousin, BO Diop, alias "RO," described as C. Faye's supplier. An investigation was immediately launched to locate and arrest him; he is currently at large.
The suspects were taken into custody for offering, selling, and possessing cannabis, as well as for attempted bribery. The public prosecutor's office has been informed and a judicial investigation is underway.
