Touba : Nouvelle noyade au bassin de Nguélemou inauguré par Ousmane Sonko
The Ndamatou district police station was informed of a new tragedy this Wednesday around 6 p.m. It was a case of drowning at the Nguélemou pool in Touba, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko last Saturday. The victim, B. Diop, was around 25 years old and was not in full possession of his mental faculties, according to his relatives.
A pool at its maximum capacity
It should be noted that the recently inaugurated Nguélemou basin has reached its capacity and can no longer contain rainwater, which raises questions about the security of the site.
Second victim in less than two weeks
This is the second drowning victim in this basin in less than two weeks, highlighting the risks that this sanitation facility represents for the population.
Difficulty extracting the body
Given the depth of the basin, the Touba firefighters on site were not equipped enough to extract the body. A backup of divers from Tivaouane was requested, given the complexity of the maneuver to extract the body from the water, according to testimonies collected.
This new tragedy has rekindled the debate on the need to secure these sanitation infrastructures, particularly in the run-up to the Great Magal, which will bring thousands of pilgrims to Touba.

Vous n’êtes pas capable de vous faire élire chef de quartier mais vous vous acharnez à essayer de ridiculiser ou diaboliser Sonko, qui lui a fait ses preuves incontestables dans tous les plans.
Heureusement que vous ne représentez qu’une minuscule minorité sans aucune valeur pour ce pays. Votre haine pour cet homme vous consomme. La pitié est ce que vous méritez, rien de plus.

La solution est que les habitants du quartier, le maire ou les responsables du Pastef de la localité doivent s'organiser pour securiser le bassin en attendant des mesures plus sûres.
L'Etat a dépensé des milliards pour regler l'assainissement, ce serait trop demander d'exiger à l'Etat de venir surveiller ce qui est à coté de chez vous dont la surveillance ne vous coûte absolument rien.
C'est comme demander à l'Etat de venir nettoyer le pavage qu'il a fait devant la porte de ta maison. C'est insensé, on ne doit pas tout attendre de l'Etat.
