Trafic d’armes : un réseau lié à l’attaque d'un hôtel démantelé, le surprenant rôle d’un homme de 77 ans
The Kaolack Research Section has dismantled a major network trafficking in homemade weapons that operated in weekly markets in the central part of the country (Kaolack, Fatick, and Kaffrine). At the heart of this trafficking operation is a 77-year-old man, identified as the main supplier, reports Source A.
The newspaper reports that the septuagenarian, N. Niang, took advantage of his age to remain undetected. He roamed the "loumas," notably the one in Birkelane, carrying a simple satchel concealing homemade pistols and ammunition, sold for approximately 12,000 CFA francs each.
Although some customers, mainly livestock farmers, cited by the same source, claimed they needed to protect their herds, investigations have revealed that these weapons were actually being used to finance organized crime. These weapons were reportedly used in the attack on the "Le Jardin" hotel in Kaone on December 29th.
The investigation took a decisive turn after the arrest of the first suspect, A. Mbaye, in possession of drugs and two pistols, who then implicated his supplier. On January 25, the gendarmes apprehended Niang at the Birkelane market with three additional pistols and 95 rounds of ammunition (12, 8, and 9 mm calibers).
When questioned by investigators, the elderly man admitted to selling weapons, claiming he obtained them on the black market in Touba, but refused to reveal the identities of his accomplices. Following the investigation, the two men were brought before the public prosecutor at the Kaolack High Court on Monday for the illegal sale and possession of category 3 weapons and ammunition, Source A concludes.

Il y a lieu de se demander s'ils ne vendent pas de la bombe nucléaire à Touba. Le Baol-Baol ne recule devant rien pour gagner de l'argent.
