Trafic de chanvre indien : « Quelqu’un a jeté le sachet devant moi », se défend M. Kâ
Prosecuted for the sale or offering of Indian hemp, Mr. Kâ appeared before the court of flagrant offenses in Thiès to answer for the charges against him after his arrest by the police in a home where alcoholic beverages were being sold.
Before the judge, the defendant denied any involvement in the drug case. He explained that he was simply present at the scene with other people when the police raided the premises.
"We were sitting in a house. When the police arrived, the people who were in front of the house ran away and someone threw a bag of Indian hemp which landed in front of me," Mr. Kâ told the court.
The defendant claims that the officers then thought he was the owner of the bag of drugs found at the scene.
"The police entered the house and thought I was the owner. I don't know who threw the drugs at me," he maintained.
Denying any drug use, Mr. Kâ insisted that he does not smoke. "I do not consume Indian hemp. I don't even smoke cigarettes," he added in court.
For his part, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The court acquitted the defendant due to reasonable doubt and ordered the destruction of the drugs.
