Bloodhounds from the Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (OCRTIS) have dealt a severe blow to crack trafficking in Rufisque. On the night of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at around 12:30 a.m., members of the Dakar Regional Drugs Brigade arrested an individual suspected of belonging to the network led by a certain Boy Rio, alias "Meum," and considered a key player in drug trafficking in the Rufisque housing project. The operation followed a tip-off mentioning the active presence of this network.

An investigative operation was then put in place. As part of this, an undercover agent placed an order for three crack cocaine stones from a middleman, for a total of 30,000 CFA francs. The meeting was arranged in front of the Rufisque fire station.

At the appointed time, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle to ensure the delivery. One of them, identified as SS Sow, aged 20, was arrested. Panicked, he attempted to get rid of the evidence by swallowing three stones of crack, according to Seneweb sources. A search of him revealed a bag containing five more stones of the same drug in his right pocket. His accomplice fled.

When questioned, SS Sow admitted working under Boy Rio's orders. He also admitted being responsible for two separate deliveries: the first of three stones and the second of five stones intended for other clients.

He was taken to the Principal Hospital for medical examinations after ingesting the drug, and was then taken into custody for criminal conspiracy and possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. A mobile phone and the seized drugs were sealed.

OCRTIS is continuing its investigations in order to trace Boy Rio, the alleged mastermind of this network which supplies crack cocaine to the Rufisque sector.
