Trafic d'ecstasy : le dossier brûlant du fils d'un ancien policier
A. Nguirane, 35, the son of a former police officer, was tried this Thursday before the Dakar Criminal Court. He was arrested in October 2023 in possession of 98 ecstasy tablets, Les Échos reports.
In court, the same source continued, the defendant claimed to be an informant working for the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS), and that the drugs had been given to him as part of an undercover operation.
But this version was strongly contested by the judge and the prosecutor. The latter, quoted by the newspaper, recalled that OCRTIS never mandates its informants to deliver drugs, a practice prohibited by law. He also emphasized that the agents implicated by Nguirane had formally denied any collaboration with him.
The prosecution also referred to the defendant's initial confession that he had received the tablets to sell them, which contradicts his new line of defense.
On this basis, the prosecutor requested a two-year prison sentence for the accused.
For its part, Les Echos reports, the defense contested the accusations of supplying or transferring drugs, due to a lack of material evidence, and argued for either acquittal or the reclassification of the facts as simple possession for personal use.
The court rejected the request for bail. The verdict will be delivered on August 21.
