Trafic international de drogue : La SR de Kaolack arrête un dealer notoire à Karang
The recently inaugurated Kaolack Research Section (SR) dealt a severe blow to drug trafficking with the arrest of a dealer operating in Sokone. The suspect was brought before the Saloum High Court.
The commune of Sokone, traditionally considered peaceful due to its isolation, is experiencing increasing insecurity. Assaults, alcohol consumption, clandestine prostitution, and especially an international cannabis trafficking operation orchestrated by Gambian nationals are now tarnishing the locality's image. Faced with this scourge, a resident alerted the Kaolack Research Section.
Three days of surveillance
Immediately, plainclothes gendarmes deployed a surveillance and observation team to the routes frequented by the traffickers. After three days of intelligence gathering, an anonymous informant provided investigators with the identity of a notorious trafficker: S. Ndiaye, as well as his address.
Arrest after a chase in Karang
Investigators went to Karang, the suspect's place of residence. Thanks to a strategic maneuver, S. Ndiaye was apprehended on October 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM on his motorcycle, after a chase. He was formally identified by the undercover agent.
Invited to lead investigators to his home for a search, he categorically refused.
A rigged transaction of 150,000 FCFA
The operation had been planned in advance. An undercover agent had ordered 3.5 kilograms of cannabis from S. Ndiaye for 150,000 FCFA. The suspect was caught in a trap during the delivery.
During the search of the premises after the arrest, investigators discovered an additional kilogram of Indian hemp wrapped in cement bag paper, identical to the 3.5 kilograms previously delivered to the undercover agent.
The suspect denies the charges despite the evidence.
When questioned by investigators, S. Ndiaye categorically denied the allegations, despite being confronted by the intelligence agent who had given him the 150,000 FCFA. He refused to provide his smartphone's access code or reveal the identity of his Gambian supplier. He also stated that he would never show his home to investigators, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.
Faced with this obstruction, the investigators contacted the Center for Combating Digital Crime (CLCN). The technical report confirmed the investigators' suspicions after a thorough examination of the suspect's phone.
Technicians extracted the Gambian supplier's phone number. Analysis of electronic communications via WhatsApp revealed explicit exchanges concerning the availability, delivery, and sale of narcotics.
Even more damning, the phone's photo gallery contained images showing the accused in a field of Indian hemp cultivation, confirming the existence of an organized and transnational illicit activity.
In total, the gendarmes of the SR of Kaolack seized 4.5 kg of Indian hemp, his Jakarta motorcycle and his phone during the operation.
At the conclusion of the investigation, S. Ndiaye was brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Kaolack High Court for international trafficking of Indian hemp. His Gambian supplier is actively being sought.
