Traite de personnes en Gambie : 29 Sénégalais extirpés d'un réseau criminel par la SR de Kaolack

The Kaolack Research Section (SR) successfully completed a major operation, freeing 29 Senegalese nationals who had fallen victim to a criminal network operating in Gambian territory, according to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb. This delicate mission, conducted abroad, was a resounding success thanks to the professionalism of the gendarmes in this elite unit from the Saloum region and their close collaboration with the Gambian police.

The case began on November 26, 2025, when the Kaolack Research Section received information about a large Qnet-type scam network involving Senegalese citizens residing in Farafenni, Gambia. According to the information gathered, some recruiters for this network were operating from within Senegal.

Given the seriousness of the situation, a team of investigators was immediately deployed to the field, accompanied by a relative of the victims who proved crucial for the continuation of the operations.

First arrests in Keur Ayib

The gendarmes of the Saloum Regional Investigation Service (SR) managed to apprehend three Senegalese nationals in Keur Ayib, including the son of the relative who was accompanying the investigators. Thanks to well-orchestrated tactical maneuvers, these Senegalese officers successfully extracted these individuals from Gambian territory.

A reconnaissance mission then enabled investigators to locate, through their interviews, the house used as an office by the network, located approximately 150 kilometers from the Senegalese-Gambian border.

After submitting a detailed report to their superiors, the gendarmes of the Kaolack Regional Investigation Service (SR) received authorization to continue the operation beyond Senegal's borders. Their mission was to identify the locations where the Senegalese victims were staying in order to apprehend them, under the direction of the Gambian police.

The final assault: 26 people freed

In coordination with Gambian security forces, the gendarmes of the SR of Kaolack, reinforced by their colleagues from the territorial brigade of Keur Ayib, carried out an arrest operation which freed 26 Senegalese: 10 girls, including a child aged only 11, and 16 boys, according to information from Seneweb.

The victims were taken to the Kaolack Research Section where they are being interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, three other suspects remain in the hands of the Gambian police, demonstrating the cross-border dimension of this case of human trafficking and large-scale fraud.
