Transitions écologique : Paoskoto amorce le virage de la résilience des communautés
A workshop on promoting ecological and energy transitions on employment and climate was held in the communes of Taïba and Paoskoto, in the Kaolack region.
Its foundation lies in promoting the agro-ecological transition with a view to sustainably improving agricultural productivity on the one hand, and increasing resilience in the communes of Paoskoto on the other. This upgrading targeted young people, women, and farms.
“The NGO Enda is a strategic partner of the Keur Diatta agreement. It supports beneficiaries through collective groups of individual farms. We have funding opportunities to be able to implement the projects that are being studied and are the subject of immense expectations among us as local authorities,” informs the mayor of Paoskoto, Balla Mbaye, representing the Diatta Abib Niass agreement.
For his part, Saliou Kassé Faye, monitoring and evaluation manager at Enda, discussed the challenges of this workshop, which also aims to create a framework for exchange and sharing with all stakeholders in the Kaolack region on strategies to develop to mobilize funding.

This workshop is also justified by the unanimous observation of soil degradation and problems related to the effects of climate change.

“In terms of strategies, Enda is developing, with all actors at the level of the zone, the promotion of agro-ecological and sustainable techniques. Today, the idea is to support actors in terms of financing and capacity building. We must also provide them with all the necessary equipment in terms of seeds and access to solar energy for those who are active in market gardening,” he said.

According to the latter, the decision was made to study the soil and see how to restore the vegetation cover.
