Tribunal de Thiès : I. Diop condamné à un mois de prison pour vol de papayes
I. Diop, around twenty years old, was sentenced to one month in prison for stealing papayas. The incident took place in Pout. To make easy money, I. Diop entered A. Niang's field.
While picking papayas to fill his bag, he was surprised by the farm owner. Arrested, I. Diop was handed over to the Pout gendarmerie brigade, charged, and placed under arrest for theft at the Thiès MAC.
At the Thiès District Court, the defendant admitted the facts, before stating that he had only stolen 10 papayas for his own consumption. However, the civil party stated that I. Diop had a bag to fill with papayas.
Considering the facts consistent, the public prosecutor requested that the law be applied. The judge agreed and found I. Diop guilty of theft and sentenced him to one month in prison.
