Tribunal de Thiès : S. Ndoye, poursuivi pour le vol d'un bœuf, son père plaide la folie
Young S. Ndoye is accused of stealing a cow belonging to shepherd A. Sow. According to the plaintiff, the accused was caught leading his cow, and when people confronted him, S. Ndoye claimed ownership. He was lynched before being handed over to the gendarmerie.
In the dock of the Thiès court for flagrant offenses, the defendant denied the theft and maintained that the ox belonged to his father and that it had been stolen months ago.
But his father, I. Ndoye, denied these claims. He went on to emphasize that his son lacked mental capacity and had even been institutionalized at Dalal Xel.
However, the public prosecutor considered the facts to be consistent and requested the application of the law.
The defendant S. Ndoye was found guilty of theft and sentenced to six months suspended and ordered to pay the plaintiff the sum of 15,000 CFA francs in damages.
